Elizabeth Foglia
MD MSCE
Dr. Foglia is an Associate Professor of Pediatrics in the Division of Neonatology at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. She leads an NIH-funded clinical research group focused on neonatal resuscitation, respiratory management, and intubation safety. She was the PI for the INFLATE study and SAIL RFM ancillary study, which both used respiratory function monitoring to characterize ventilation delivered to preterm infants during delivery room resuscitation.
Dr. Foglia directs two multicenter networks focused on resuscitation practice: the National Emergency Airway Registry for Neonates (NEAR4NEOS) and the American Academy of Pediatrics Delivery Room Intervention and Evaluation (DRIVE) Network. She serves on the Neonatal Resuscitation Program Steering Committee and the Neonatal Life Support Taskforce for the International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation, which generates treatment guidelines for neonatal resuscitation used globally.
Sophie Cramer
MSc
Sophie Cramer MSc works as a medical engineer and researcher at the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit of the Leiden University Medical Center in the Netherlands. She studied Biomedical Engineering at the Technical University of Delft and obtained an additional post master in Qualified Medical Engineering at the Technical University of Eindhoven.
During her post master she designed the BreatheBuddy; a device that provides automated tactile stimulation to a preterm infant in response to cardiorespiratory events.
Both in her work as medical engineer as in her (PhD)research she focuses on how technology can aid the caregivers and/or enhance their performance on the NICU. Her activities vary from designing medical devices, training caregivers in understanding and using medical technology to implementation of new medical technology.
